Inaugural Edition: 2024
The Football Law Arbitration Moot (FLAM) competition was launched in 2024, with an impressive response from Nigerian universities. Over 30 institutions applied to participate, demonstrating a strong interest in football law.
Competition Stages The competition consisted of several stages:
1. Brief Writing Stage:
Participants submitted written briefs, which were evaluated to select the top 14 teams.
2. First Virtual Oral Round:
The 14 selected teams competed in a virtual oral round, with eight teams advancing to the next stage.
3. Second Virtual Oral Round:
The eight teams competed in another virtual oral round, with four teams emerging as finalists. Finals and Awards
The finals took place on December 14, 2024, in Abuja, with the following teams competing:
- University of Lagos
- Adekunle Ajasin University
- University of Ilorin
- University of Abuja
The University of Lagos emerged as the winner, with Adekunle Ajasin University as the runner-up. The winners received prize money and awards, while all participating schools were offered internship opportunities with prominent football stakeholders who attended the event.
This inaugural edition of FLAM set a high standard for future competitions, promoting excellence in football law and fostering collaboration among Nigerian universities.
