Lucio Mazzei is a distinguished Italian sports lawyer and the founder of Sports Law Corner, a consultancy that offers specialized legal services in the domain of international sports law. With a strong foundation in legal education from renowned institutions including Università Bocconi in Milan and an LL.M. in International Sports Law from ISDE in Madrid, Lucio has cultivated a global perspective on sports governance, legal reform, and arbitration.
Over the years, Lucio has built a diverse legal career spanning Europe and South America. He has served in various capacities—most notably as a legal consultant at the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and as a sports lawyer with Gonzalez Mullin Kasprzyk & Asociados in Uruguay. He has also worked as a trainee lawyer with Osborne Clarke in London and at Studio Legale Avv. Cirigliano in Milan. These experiences have positioned him as a versatile practitioner, adept in matters ranging from football regulations and intermediary disputes to player contracts and arbitration.
As a thought leader and legal educator, Lucio Mazzei has made significant contributions to the sports law community. During the COVID-19 lockdown, he co-launched Sports Talks at Calle Serrano, an innovative webinar series featuring discussions with international experts on sports law, management, and business. His thought leadership is also evident in his written works, including a widely-read summary of the FIFA Football Annual Review 2024, where he analyzed major developments such as the reform of FIFA statutes, the relocation of FIFA’s headquarters to Miami, and the introduction of a digital platform to track sanctioned clubs.
