International Sports Lawyer
Pedro Azevedo Branco is an International Sports Lawyer with a strong academic background and extensive professional experience in sports law. He holds a Law degree from a University in Porto and a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Coimbra, one of Portugal’s most prestigious academic institutions. He is a member of the Portuguese Bar Association. From 2016 to 2025, he served as a legal advisor for one of the most prominent football clubs in the world, recognized globally for its sporting achievements – FC Porto, from Portugal. During this decade-long tenure, he was deeply involved in important international player transfers and represented the club in major legal matters before FIFA, UEFA, and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). His work consistently placed him at the center of the club’s most critical legal and regulatory issues. In addition to his legal practice, he has regularly participated as a speaker in various conferences and seminars focused on sports law, sharing his expertise with professionals and academics in the field. Earlier in life, he also played football at a high level, having represented both a major Portuguese club (FC Porto) in its youth teams and the Portuguese national team at youth levels. His unique combination of legal expertise, practical experience in Sports Law, and having played football at a high level provides him with a comprehensive perspective on the legal challenges in the world of football and a unique understanding of the game—both on and off the pitch.
